Witton Church Walk CE Primary: 20th Anniversary Celebration & Yellow Day Brightens the school
This year marked the 20th anniversary of Witton Church Walk School, celebrated with a special service that brought together families, governors, children, and staff. The Senior Leadership Team led a heartfelt reflection, sharing photos and memories from the past two decades, allowing the whole school community to pause and reflect on the remarkable journey we have shared.
The theme of Ubuntu, “I am because you are,” resonated throughout the day, reminding us of the importance of community, connection, and the way our school vision unites us all. After the service, everyone came together for a joyful family picnic filled with music, dancing, laughter, and cherished memories.

The celebrations continued with a delightful ice cream treat for children and staff, capping off a day of gratitude and togetherness. The 20th anniversary was a beautiful opportunity to honour our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to the future as a school community strengthened by friendship and a shared sense of belonging.
Yellow Day Inspired by Donna Ashworth’s Poem Fellow Yellow
We had a special start to our Friday celebration worship as part of Yellow Day, inspired by Donna Ashworth’s poem Fellow Yellow. Our Happiness Heroes led the worship, helping everyone reflect on the importance of kindness, positivity, and mental wellbeing.
Children and families came together to add to our Yellow Heart Wall, writing the names of the people in their lives who are their “Fellow Yellow” – those who bring sunshine, light, and happiness to their day. Children also wore yellow to celebrate and reflect on the special people who brighten their lives.
The activity gave everyone a wonderful opportunity to think about how we can share light, kindness, and support for one another, perfectly linking to our school vision of sharing light with others. It was a joyful and meaningful start to the day, celebrating connections, happiness, and mental wellbeing across our school community.
