The Melanesian Mission: Vanuatu Earthquake Disaster

On December 17, 2024, a devastating 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck near Vanuatu’s capital in Melanesia. For over 20 years Chester Diocese has been linked with the Diocese of Melanesia with regular visits and many lifelong relationships having been developed. 14 lives were lost in the earthquake, including one Anglican priest, and 2,000 people have received medical treatment.
