We are excited for our Chester DBE Senior Leaders’ Conference happening later this month!

Along with inspiring speakers and engaging workshops, we’re delighted to welcome a range of especially invited exhibitors, who will be available throughout the day to share their work, services, and publications.

Lit in Colour - Penguin Books & The Runnymede Trust

The Lit in Colour campaign supports UK schools make the teaching and learning of English literature more inclusive of writers of colour. Initiated in 2020 by Penguin Books, the campaign published ground breaking research with principle partner the Runnymede Trust to better understand the barriers preventing schools from teaching books by writers of colour, and set out practical recommendations for change. The campaign provides free teaching resources, book donations and CPD to support schools.

An award-winning teaching platform made up of interactive 360° spaces and soundscapes of real homes, workplaces and environments from around the world known as storyworlds.

Show Racism The Red Card

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK's leading anti-racism educational charity. In addition to the direct education of young people and adults, SRtRC produces educational resources and platforms, to challenge misconceptions, stereotypes and negative attitudes in society.

Anthony Walker Foundation

The Anthony Walker Foundation works to tackle racism, hate crime and discrimination by providing educational opportunities, victim support services and by promoting equity and inclusion for all.

Archbishops’ Young Leaders Award

The Young Leaders Award (YLA) is a fully resourced leadership and character education programme designed to be delivered by teaching staff within the classroom.

We will also be joined by student leaders from The Bishop’s Blue Coat Church of England High school, showcasing their journey and impressive pieces of work created by students.

Plus, following last month’s Art and Poetry Competition celebrating Black History Month, we’re excited to present the winning entries, showcasing the creative work submitted by students from our schools.

The conference aims to be a truly inspiring and enlightening day with our Keynote Speakers are, The Rt Revd Dr Rose Hudson-Wilkin (the Bishop of Dover) and Elizabeth Olulari, National Lead for Racial Justice at the Church of England, as well as The Rt Revd Mark Tanner, (the Bishop of Chester).

Workshops

Join two of our afternoon workshops (chosen at the time of booking) designed to empower schools to deliver a curriculum centred on racial justice and implement meaningful change.

  • Equity, Diversity & Justice - The journey

    Delivered by Liz Agbettoh: Blackburn Diocese School Effectiveness Officer and Lead for Equity, Diversity and Justice.

  • Decolonising the Curriculum

    Delivered by Elizabeth Olulari & Aleishia Lewis: National Church of England Education team leads for Racial Justice and co-lead BAMEed leaders in London.

  • How to Develop a Whole School Approach to Racial Justice

    Delivered by Kayleigh Page & Freya Riley: Teachers at St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School, Grappenhall, Warrington.
