Gee Cross Holy Trinity: Bishops visit to rededicate school library & garden

The Bishop of Birkenhead, Julie Conalty, and the Bishop of Stockport, Sam Corley, were invited to Gee Cross Holy Trinity Primary School in Hyde to celebrate the school’s vision and values, “full of life, love and learning”. The visit was featured in the local newspaper, Tameside Reporter.

Bishop Julie rededicated the inspiring and creative school library, which had been redesigned by PTFA members, to provide a stimulating and inspiring place for children to explore and develop a love of reading.

Bishop Sam spoke to the whole school community, blessing Isabelle’s Garden.

He said: “The school community are grateful

to the amazing volunteers who have restored and

regenerated Isabelle’s Garden so that future generations

of children can benefit from this special

reflection garden.”

Isabelle was a past pupil who courageously battled a terminal illness. She passed away when she was in year two, and the garden was originally designed in memory of Isabelle, who was loved by all. With the help of donations from ASDA, the PTFA and volunteers, the garden was recently redesigned and developed to be a special place to sit, to wonder, and to reflect quietly, namely Isabelle’s Garden.

Special stones were signed by Isabelle’s family, the bishops, members of the PTFA, and governors, as well as past and senior leaders. The stones were placed in special areas of the garden for all to read the messages and know how important each child is to the school community. By blessing the garden, the school want all who share this space to experience “peace, joy, hope and love”. The afternoon ended with the bishops celebrating collective worship with the school community.
