Chester Diocesan Learning Trust Announces Appointment of CEO

Chester Diocesan Learning Trust (CDLT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Sara Lawrenson as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a highly competitive recruitment process. Sara will become the Trust’s first substantive CEO and will formally take up her post on 1 May.

Sara joins CDLT from her current role within Concordia Multi Academy Trust in Ellesmere Port, bringing extensive experience in trust leadership and a deep commitment to educational excellence. Her appointment marks a significant milestone in the development of CDLT as it continues to grow and strengthen its mission.

In reflecting on her appointment, Sara said, “I am incredibly honoured to have been appointed as CEO of Chester Diocesan Learning Trust. CDLT’s Christian vision, grounded in faith, service and the belief that we are one body with many parts, resonates deeply with me, as does its commitment to serving communities and enabling children and adults to flourish. I am really looking forward to working alongside leaders, staff, local governance committees (LGCs) and trustees across the Trust, listening carefully, and building on the strong foundations already in place as, together, we move into the next phase of CDLT’s journey.”

Andrew Warren, Chair of the Board of Trustees commented, “The trust board are all delighted by the appointment of Sara Lawrenson as our first substantive CEO. She brings with her a wealth of trust leadership experience and we are looking forward to welcoming her into the CDLT family. This is a big moment in the life of our new trust.”

Diocesan Director of Education, Chris Penn added: “This is a key appointment in the development of CDLT as our second Diocesan Trust. I am thrilled that the Trust have been able to appoint and secure a CEO of the calibre of Sara and all that she will bring from her experience and expertise working within the academy trust sector. Chester Diocesan Board of Education is committed to working in close partnership with Sara and CDLT, alongside CDAT and our other church school MATs, building on the strong foundations that have already been formed with our founding church school academies and led by Sue Noakes. We are excited to see this partnership being further strengthened in the coming months and years.”

The Trust looks forward to welcoming Sara in May and to working closely with her and with Sue Noakes to ensure a smooth and positive transition.
