The Bishops’ Blue Coat High: School updates

Thy Kingdom Come & Prayer Tree

Throughout May we focussed on prayer as our theme for Collective Worship and invited students to join with thousands of other young people from around the globe to unite in prayer. Students across all the years at Bishops' also worked on a Prayer Tree to help the wider community pray during Thy Kingdom Come, which is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for 11 days from Ascension to Pentecost.

 ‘Dear Prime Minister…’

We are so proud of Year 7 student, Isla Torr, for wanting to make a difference in society and help bring about life in all its fullness for everyone. Isla recently wrote to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to express her views about how the Government’s policies on disability benefits and immigration are affecting people’s lives. She received a reply from Downing Street to say that her views have been heard and are being considered. Isla has demonstrated a remarkable level of citizenship and social responsibility by taking the initiative to act and strive for a better world, a world that reflects Jesus’ teachings of love and compassion for all. She is an active member of our Ethos and Values Leadership Team and an inspiration to everyone in our school. Well done, Isla!

My school made me feel I could write about these problems to the Prime Minister and since the start of the year I’ve felt braver to do so, and they helped me to grow an flourish
