Art & Poetry Competition winners announced

‘We have more in common’

We were delighted to receive a great response to our Black History Month Art and Poetry Competition which we ran throughout October.

In a hotly contested field, judged by representatives of the Diocesan Racial Justice forum, we finally agreed on winners for each age group category (Infants, Juniors and Secondary).

The variety of entries was incredible, from moving and motivating poetry through to expressive and thoughtful artwork.

Huge thanks got to all pupils that put their work forward for consideration, as well as staff from those schools that submitted entries.

The winners in each age category were as follows:

Infants:

Class 2, Tushingham with Grindley CE Primary School

Juniors:

Year 5 pupil, Grappenhall St Wilfrid’s CE Primary School

Secondary:

Scarlett Johnson and Poppy Lavelle, Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic and Church of England Academy

Congratulations to the winners, who all receive a framed version of their entry and a fiction book by an author of global majority heritage background.
