RE Conference 2026: An Uplifting Day Exploring Creativity in RE
We enjoyed a truly inspirational day at our DBE RE Conference recently, hosted at Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford. The theme this year focused on Creativity, Imagination and the Arts, and we welcomed many RE leaders from primary schools from across the Diocese.
We were fortunate to be joined by our guest speaker, Lat Blaylock for the whole day. Lat is a leading figure in RE, one of RE Today’s National Adviser and former Editor of RE Today.
Lat opened the conference discussing creativity for every pupil, exploring global Christianity with examples of art from across the world. We were given further impactful presentations on creative thinking in other religions whilst giving some practical support and materials to support our school’s work and and world faith teaching.
Presentations throughout the day were thought provoking, whilst combining interactive activities to encourage ideas and discussion with how to implement into the classroom.
We delighted to receive such positive feedback from the day:
“I really enjoyed it and was truly inspired. It is so good to complete a day like that and have so much information and resources to take back to school.”
“Thank you for a wonderful conference, I learned much that will be of value to our student teachers.”
“Inspired to not be afraid to be creative in RE”
“A really inspiring day. New ways to teach RE. Love all of these ideas of creativity and feel invigorated to get going on this. ”
Overall, the conference was powerful - deepening our understanding and enriching our subject knowledge to support and develop creative RE within the curriculum. We would like to thank Lat for travelling from Leicester to be part of the day ensuring it’s success and offering valuable takeaways for our Headteachers and RE leads.
