Spirituality Week at Guilden Sutton CE Primary School
In May, we held our very first Spirituality Week—a truly enriching and reflective experience enjoyed by both students and staff. The week began with whole-school Collective Worship, exploring our shared understanding of spirituality and setting the tone for a thoughtful and creative programme of events
Each class teacher led a carousel of engaging activities, including music, yoga, poetry, painting pebbles, creating bracelets inspired by Mala Prayer Beads, making windmills, artwork, and planting seeds—each encouraging children to reflect, express, and connect.
We were also delighted to welcome Andy Avery from C.S.C.W., who led a powerful Prayer Spaces session with each class, focusing on awe, wonder, and creation. One of the most memorable moments was our whole-school silent walk, offering a rare and beautiful opportunity for stillness, appreciation, and contemplation.
Throughout the week, children were given space and encouragement to have thought-provoking conversations and to explore their own sense of spirituality in meaningful ways. It was a week of calm, creativity, and connection—and we look forward to making it an annual tradition.
To continue the theme at home, we also set a whole-school homework challenge: to capture a personal moment of awe and wonder—something that simply made them stop and say “wow.” The responses were as varied as they were inspiring, reminding us all that spirituality can be found in the everyday if we take the time to notice.
