Global Week of Prayer & National Day of Prayers for Schools 2026
Between 6-13th September, some Christian organisations, including 24-7 Prayer, are holding a Global Week of Prayer, inviting the global Church to pray non-stop in every nation on earth. As part of this week there will also be a National Day of Prayer for Schools on Wednesday 9th September. These events offer an exciting way for schools to engage with Christianity as a global and diverse faith and to participate through creative opportunities for prayer.
How can our school join in with the global week of prayer?
Follow the links below to download the Chester Diocese Act of Collective Worship PowerPoint and Guide notes, based on The Global Week of Prayer. This is aimed at KS2/3 pupils and students and can be amended to suit other ages.
Set up a range of new prayer spaces in schools activities written especially for The Global Week of Prayer.

How can our school join in with the national day of prayer?
Gather in person – you could hold your own prayer meeting in school for parents, staff, church community etc.. to pray for your school and schools in our nation. You could even think about what a lunch time prayer club could look like for pupils in your setting.
Gather online (suitable for adults) - On 9 September there will be three 1-hour Prayer Zooms happening online at 7am, 2pm and 7pm that anyone can be part of and join with Christians across the UK in praying for schools. You can sign up to get involved in these using the links below:

Pray through the school day. Every hour, from 8am – 4pm, The Message, 24-7 Prayer GB and other partners will also be sharing a ‘prayer for schools’ on Facebook and Instagram. You might like to use these to pray for schools throughout the day or share any that resonate on your school channels.
Prayer Walk through your school. You might like to arrange for some pupils and perhaps some willing adults or church members to prayer walk through the school. Download our Chester Diocese Guide to school Prayer Walks here.
