Blossoming Community Engagement at Bishops’ Blue Coat CE High School

Bishops’ students have in recent weeks been supporting a community engagement project at Grosvenor Manor Care Centre, a residential home for elderly people close to school. Together with residents, they are transforming a small part of the home’s outside space into a special music-themed garden.

The garden is designed to provide a space where singers and musicians from Bishops’ will perform for residents, whilst also supporting the wider flourishing of the care home.

It will incorporate a performance stage, pieces of original art created by our students working alongside our Chaplain, Rev Hana, and also a special ‘rock’ garden.

Students and residents have spent time together chatting about the music they love and the importance of music in their lives (both now and in their younger years for residents). They have then worked together creating special painted rocks to go into the rock garden.

The stage has already been built and in coming weeks, the students will create the artwork and then get planting! The grand opening is set for July so watch this space!
