Diocese representative Opportunity on the Cheshire East Schools’ Forum

Cheshire East Council are seeking a representative on the Cheshire East Schools’ Forum. Ideally the representative would have an understanding or keen interest in schools funding/finance. Alternatively, or additionally, knowledge or experience relating to High Needs funding/SEN provision would be an advantage.

The representative could be from senior leadership within one of the schools or a member of the governing board.

The Schools’ Forum is a statutory body made of up of school and non-school members. Local Authorities are obliged to consult their Schools’ Forums annually in respect of issues relating to the schools’ budget, specifically in connection with arrangements for the education of pupils with special educational needs; arrangements for the use of pupil referral units; arrangements for early years provision and administrative arrangements for the allocation of central government grants paid to schools via the authority.

The Forum meets 4 times per year in October, December, February and June – all online this year.

There is also the opportunity to put yourself forward to be part of working groups – currently there is one that considers the Schools Block Formula and is also looking at SEN/High Needs funding.

Further information on the role of the Schools’ Forum can be via Schools Forum (cheshireeast.gov.uk) See the current Membership details
