Passionate about the role of church schools? 

Become a member of the Chester Diocesan Board of Education and make a difference to the lives of children across the Diocese.

Chester Diocesan Board of Education (CDBE) is looking for people with an interest in education to join their Board. The Board has a 3 year cycle and is linked to Diocesan Synod who appoint to the Board following recommendations from the DBE Chair and Director of Education.

As a member of the DBE, you would play an important role in shaping education across the Diocese by promoting education that is consistent with the faith and practice of the Church of England and supporting and encouraging our 114 church schools/academies.

As well as being a practising Christian, the DBE is particularly seeking individuals with a professional background and/or experience in at least one of the following fields:

  • Finance and business

  • Human resources

  • Public relations

  • Leadership

The roles are voluntary but with expenses covered.

The time commitment is as follows:

  • 3 full Board meetings per academic year with an additional AGM (evening)

  • Committee Member of sub-group: 3 or 4 meetings per academic year (daytime)
